Chioma Isabella Ajana, a UNIZIK Law Student, Dies After Allegedly Being Denied Access to Her Diabetes Medication by Hostel Mistress Unless She Paid N120k Following Loss of Room Key


 A law student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has di£d and her colleagues are seeking justice as they blame her hostel mistress.

‎

‎Ajana Isabella, an occupant of Elmada hostel in Unizik, and her roommates reportedly lost their room key and needed a new one.

‎

‎However, students alleged that when they approached their hostel mistress, identified as Madam Bright, for a spare key, she insisted that they pay for the spare as the hostel's policy demands.

‎

‎The price for the spare key was allegedly pegged at N120,000 and the three roommates had to bring N40,000 each.

‎

‎The students begged that they could not afford that amount right away and Ajana – said to be diabetic – desperately needed her insulin medications.

‎

‎However, their pleas were ignored and Ajana's condition deteriorated until she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital on Sunday, July 6, and she di£d on Wednesday, July 9.

‎

‎Unizik students are now seeking justice for her.

Apply now: Nigerian FG opens applications for recruitment portal for 4 agencies

  The federal government has announced a nationwide recruitment of 30,000 personnel across four paramilitary agencies. In a statement on Tuesday, the civil defence, correctional, fire, and immigration services board (CDCFIB) said the recruitment exercise covers vacancies in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The application portal is scheduled to open on June 26 at  recruitment.cdcfib.org . The board said applicants must be Nigerian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 and must meet minimum physical and medical standards. Male applicants are expected to be at least 1.65 m tall with a chest measurement of not less than 0.87 m, while the minimum height for female applicants is 1.60 m. JAMB ANNOUNCES TOP SCORERS IN THIS YEAR'S UTME

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has revealed the top scorers in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. Speaking at the 2025 Policy Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, said Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State scored the highest  with 375 out of a maximum score of 400. He revealed the highest scorer picked the University of Lagos as his first choice, to study Mechanical Engineering Engineering. He was closely followed by Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State who scored 374. Ayuba picked Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) as his first choice to study Mechanical Engineering. In the third position is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State who garnered 373 with UNILAG as his first choice.
